At first the ports were supposedly to be offered as a bonus for those who bought the next-gen versions of Grand Theft Auto V and Online, then a decision was made to release them earlier this year. It’s also said that plans around releasing the remasters have changed several times over the past few months, as a result of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
While there’s been no word on any gameplay changes, the remasters are said to be “trying to stay true to the PS2-era GTA games as much as possible.” The sources claim that the remasters are being done in the Unreal Engine with a mixture of “old and new graphics” along with updated UI. The reports cite sources that claim all three will be released “for a multitude of platforms” including the Nintendo Switch.
It’s being reported that Rockstar Games are planning to release a remastered trilogy of classic Grand Theft Auto games, with the project already said to be “in the final stages of development.”Īccording to Kotaku, three classic PS2-era GTAs- Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas-are being worked on at Scottish studio Rockstar Dundee.
